Rudolph Technologies are a US owned firm, that makes metrology equipment – opto-electronic based systems that measure critical dimensions during the manufacture of semiconductors.

In English, that means making sure that each wafer of each microchip is exactly the right depth. With some chips having over 200 layers, that involves absolute micro precision in process control.

Each chip is, effectively, ‘woven’ together in a complex circuitry, with each ultra-thin layer having to be precisely the right depth for the chip to function.

The firm moved to Eskmills in June 2001, and provides a total sales service for its customers in Europe. Other offices offer the same service world-wide.

Rudolph Technologieshas been independently voted the top metrology firm in the world in five out of the last six years.
