ESKIMO EXHIBITION - 26 July - 31 August 2008

Returning to the Edinburgh Art Festival after last year’s critically acclaimed inaugural shows, ‘You Do Voodoo’ and ‘No More Stars’ is Polarcap with their new show ESKIMO.

ESKIMO is the launch exhibition of The Gallery at Eskmills and is the first of an annual programme of art, music, drama and dance using the beautiful outdoor space as well as the interior, creating a space for the visual and performing arts outside the traditional circuit of galleries.
The curators initial response to the gallery suggested a list of 14 artists who they felt would be suited to this particularly beautiful space and whose work, in its originality and quality, reflects the specific nature of the venue with its history of innovation and vision.

NB: Open by appointment 1 September - 18 October 2008
Supper with Polarcap at The Glasshouse - 7 August 2008 7.30pm
Curators Talk - 16 August 2008, 2 pm

This year's charity event The Eskmills Open Hickory Golf competiton was held on Friday 20th June 2008.
This being the event's 3rd year offered the additional opportunity (after the nine holes of hickory golf and some lunch) to attend a race meeting held at surrounding Musselburgh Racecourse. Known locally as a 'Putt and a Flutter'.
Where better to play than on the historic Musselburgh Links Old Course following the footsteps of 'Open Championship' golfers - and using the same style traditional hickory clubs?

Details of next year's event will be available on this website. Enquiries can be made at the Isertal / Eskmills office in Stuart House.

CAMPIE PRIMARY SCHOOL display ENVIRONMENTAL exhibition at ESKMILLS Gallery space.
Cementing the partnership Eskmills have with their local primary school the P7's from Campie have organised, designed, set-up and promoted their very own exhibition in the gallery space at Eskmills.
This was in direct response to Fanny Christie's exhibition last year. Her enthusiasm and participation had encouraged the class to create their own messages and interpretation about the human impact on our environment. The childrens' studies have been linked closely to recycling issues, global warming and linking with local companies, and this exhibition offers an ideal platform to complimenting their studies and broadening the learning experience. The public are welcome to visit this exhibition over the two week period, and we particularly welcome the family and friends of the artists to visit the exhibition.

The exhibition is open from the 12th January through to 26th January 2007. Opening hours are 10.00am - 6.00pm Monday-Friday. (Closed weekends)

ISO14001 - Awarded

In June 2004 Eskmills was awarded accreditation to the international green standard. In an award that reflects well on everyone at Eskmills, the business development has recently passed a stringent and independent audit to achieve ISO 14001.

ISO 14001 is an internationally - recognised standard, first published in 1996, that encourages businesses to minimise their impact on the environment – an objective that is supported both by local and national government.

“It represents the culmination of a great deal of hard work, fully supported by our tenants, to ensure that Eskmills adopts best practice in everything that we do,” said Malcolm Gillies, Isertal Limited.

Over the past year, and following an in-depth environmental review, Eskmills has put in place a comprehensive green strategy to address both effective energy usage as well as efficient waste disposal.

“We’re absolutely delighted to be one of the first businesses in East Lothian to have committed ourselves to winning this award. It underlines how forward-looking business can make a positive difference to the environment through a comprehensive power and waste strategy,” said Malcolm Gillies.
