News July 2010 Archive Aug 2008 ESKIMO is the launch exhibition of The Gallery at Eskmills and is the first of an annual programme of art, music, drama and dance using the beautiful outdoor space as well as the interior, creating a space for the visual and performing arts outside the traditional circuit of galleries. June 2008 This year's charity event The Eskmills Open Hickory Golf competiton was held on Friday 20th June 2008. Feb 2008 16-18th November 2007 Eskmills sponsor two Cabaret evenings during the Fiddle Festival 2007, held at the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh. Performing at the Eskmills Cabaret on Friday night are Tymao, Brendan Hendry and Alisdair White, and on the Saturday night were Jamie Smith and Emerald Rae. 9th July 2007 Complete refurbishment of Stuart House main reception area is planned for 2008. 22nd June 2007 The Eskmills Charity Hickory Open 2007 - . The Eskmills Open - Charity Hickory Golf The 3rd Eskmills Open is scheduled for JUNE 2007 Full details will available at the begining of the year - see menu bar More details, pictures and results of The Eskmills Open 2006. Eskmills sponsor 2nd event on the 23rd June 2006. The Eskmills Open competition is using traditional hickory shafted golf clubs on Musselburgh's historic Old Links Course. Individuals, teams and businesses are welcome to apply for this charity event in support of the sports charity Hearts and Balls. A chance for any golfer to try using the traditional clubs of the past masters and on the "oldest playing course in the world". July 2005   Gold Award presented at The House of Commons Eskmills have been awarded a national gold winner in the recent Green Apple Environmental Awards. The judges awarded Eskmills in the category for Property for their environmental efforts and plans being applied in Musselburgh. Carole Caplin presented the awards at the annual ceremony held by The Green Organisation in the House of Commons. The organisation seek good environmental practice within businesses (and exceptional individuals) throughout the world and present the awards to organisations that they consider apply these principles. "We are delighted to receive national recognition for the environmental applications at Eskmills - which to us seem a natural and common sense way of doing things here" said Malcolm Gillies, Isertal Limited. Nov 2004 New Floodlights at Eskmills The introduction of floodlighting the stone north-facing wall of Stuart House now highlights this impressive landmark at night. The low wattage lamps use significantly less power than conventional floodlights following the environmental ethos implemented at Eskmills. Oct 2004 ISO14001 - Awarded In June 2004 Eskmills was awarded accreditation to the international green standard. In an award that reflects well on everyone at Eskmills, the business development has recently passed a stringent and independent audit to achieve ISO 14001. ISO 14001 is an internationally - recognised standard, first published in 1996, that encourages businesses to minimise their impact on the environment – an objective that is supported both by local and national government. “It represents the culmination of a great deal of hard work, fully supported by our tenants, to ensure that Eskmills adopts best practice in everything that we do,” said Malcolm Gillies, Isertal Limited. Over the past year, and following an in-depth environmental review, Eskmills has put in place a comprehensive green strategy to address both effective energy usage as well as efficient waste disposal.“We’re absolutely delighted to be one of the first businesses in East Lothian to have committed ourselves to winning this award. It underlines how forward-looking business can make a positive difference to the environment through a comprehensive power and waste strategy,” said Malcolm Gillies. More........Eskmills achieves award June 2004 Biodiversity Project Isertal has recruited an environmental student, Peter Bruce, for the summer of 2004. His project will reveiw and recommend a programme to ensure Eskmills maximises its biodiversity potential creating further opportunities to enjoy the natural surroundings at Eskmills.
